Tul D'Neir suburbs

Tul D'Neir suburbs and sites in the suburbs ... sddss

Al Kuneer - One of the largest districts and located in the east part of town, it is also called the Southern Quarter, as this is where the majority of people from the Southern Continent who live inside the city walls live (they make up about 90% of the population of the quarter). It runs from Stonehouse in the west to the wall in the east. It is bordered by the Avenue of Crimson King in the north and Foggy Bottom & Grumbles in the south. The architecture is definitely southern as the older buildings are slowly being gentrified by the people living there. The better parts of the district are the northern parts, closest to the Avenue. This is where all of the major god of the southern continent have temples in town. The deeper you get into the district, the more southern, poor and dangerous it becomes.
The Grand Temple of Horus-Re - This large temple to the leader of the Southern COntinent gods sits facing Taduls Field and is fronted by a huge stone courtyard. Shaped like a large pyramid 150ft tall, there are two towers the sprout from the top of the sides of pyramid and reach almost 400ft into the sky and are, by far, the tallest buildings in the eastern part of the city. The tops of the towers are covered in gold and shine brightly in the first and last rays of the sun.
The Church of Osiris - Osiris, god of nature and the underworld LG Life, Nature Crook and flail, located up in that little nook in Stonehouse.

Al Zalam - Only the hearty or foolish travel into Al Zalam (the Dark) without good reason, it is a maze of twisting streets without names, dead end alleys and three or four story buildings that lean over the street, keeping much of the area in the dark unless the sun is directly overhead. Half-demons or worse are rumored to live deep within this area.
The Rook - a quiet smoky, dark tavern that sits across from Croates Park that acts as a 'gateway' into Alzalam. Guides (usually boys or girls about 10) can be hired here to take you into Alzalam to find what you are looking for and they can be hired  from the bartender, a huge man who wears a vest that barely closes across his chest and traditional southern pants, scars are visible on every piece of skin not covered by the vest, up to and including his neck and face. His name is Farjar and he will determine the cost of a guide based on your dress, your need and how much he trusts you. Sometimes the guides will lead you to the right place, sometimes they will lead you in circles for hours, sometimes they will abandon you in the middle of nowhere.

The Bleed - home to the slaughter houses of the city. The sheep/pigs are brought into the city on barges that come down the nearby river, out into the ocean and hug the coast until they enter past Poor Mans Light. Another smelly area, the streets are normally sticky. 100 years ago this was a wealthy (upper middle class) neighborhood, but a fire leveled the entire area. The city had been looking for a place to butcher animals in town and they turned this place into that.
Pastilles Sausage Works - A sausage maker of dubious heritage and hideous visage. He claims his parents were a half orc and half elf and that he was burned in a fire when he was young. In actuality he is a high level githzerai thief in hiding in the city. He surrounds himself with blood and gore to keep from being tracked by a planar assassin who has a bloodhound of despair as a companion. He has been hiding out for about 10 years now, he is still searching for a magic item that will hide his scent. He does make a good sausage.

--------

Bloomton - This suburb sits north of the North Market and south of the wall. In the east it is bordered by Oakhollow and in the West by the Pastures. It gets its name from the ever present gardens and flower boxes that line every building. The flowers are necessary because it sits downwind of the Pastures.
Home to many inns and taverns, as well as warehouses. The better establishments sit closer to Blue End, while the cheaper places lie to the west of Market Street (closer to the Pastures). The warehouses spread along the wall west of Market Street and are also concentrated south of Dilsons Grove towards North Market.

The Airedale - an extremely nice, cozy and expensive inn. It sits two blocks to the east of the North Gate and its four stories tall. It covers an entire block and inside the center of the four wings of the inn is a private garden/dining area, which has a magical shield that prevents rain from reaching the patrons. Even if you are not staying at the inn, you can eat at the restaurant that takes up the north side of the bottom floor, Astrus (4 stars), one of the best five restaurants in the city. Master Chef Claudius, halfling Exp14 chef, has been in charge of the kitchens for the past 11 years. Closed on the first two days of every week, they serve 2 meals a days five times a week and 3 meals a day the other three days. Every day is an adventure on the menu, they are buyers from Kgak Ngaks Delicicies in Magaac. Alton eats here weekly.
The rooms are large and comfortable and clean. There is a bathhouse in the basement of the south wing and in the four corners there are magical elevators that move people up and down magically. The fourth floor are large suites that come with their own butler, room service and have in room bathing facilities. They can accommodate up to 8 people each and there are 8 of them on the top floor. The magical elevators only allow access to those who rent the suites access to the fourth floor.
The inn has been run a pair of genasi for the past 45 years. It started as a much smaller inn (with only two wings and two floors), but the location, and the hard work of the owners Aguina (water genasi) and her husband Bractian 'Breezy' (air genasi) and their family has turned The Airedale into the place for all wealthy out-of-towners who come in through the North Gate. This means its generally filled with the caravan masters of the largest and most prosperous companies of the northern continent as well as their in-city buyers. Much business is conducted in Astrus and the private dining area inside the walls.
The current owners Aguina and Bractian live in one of the top floor suites and are getting ready to retire. Their oldest child Mikos (air genasi, 53 years old) will become the new general manager, and he will run the place with his younger twin sisters. A pair of steam genasi, Marendi (Sor6) and Watheria (War10), both were adventurers when they were younger, in different groups. Marendi traveled to the Makarite subcontinent and their fabled lost cities, while Watheria and her group traveled from the Frozen north shore of the northern continent, to the grand cities of the southern continents Golden Bay. They brought back many interesting things and have maintained their foreign connections, much to the delight of Chef Claudius. The private dining area is home to many of their larger pieces of 'recovered' art.

Hiro Tavern and Casino - run by a pair of best friends from their adventuring days. Hiandese Longfoot [cg, ROG8, halfling male] and Rotak Longclaw [cg, FTR11, half orc male]. They hit a big score about 10 years ago and decided that it was time to retire. After a few months of losing money at a casino, they decided it was easier to open one.
The building is very long and takes up almost 1/2 a city block. The tavern is on the south end of building and the casino is on the north end of the building. It has been open for 8 years. Hiandese (the halfling) runs the casino and all the dealers are clerics of Brandobaris (halfling god of luck), which helps the house make even more money. Rotak (the half orc) runs the tavern.
The games are clean, the food is good and place is tailored towards stablehands and others that work in the Pastures.

The Prancing Pony - a large tavern known for its raucous nightlife activities. Bards, dancers and entertainers of all kinds take the stage all night long to the delight of the clientelle, mostly stablehands and caravan workers as it sits west of North Market. Besides the nightly entertainment, they are also famous for selling their beer in huge mugs called 'doubles' (two pints). This leads many people to query 'It comes in quarts?". It has been open for 8 years under this name, before hand it was something else.

Silver Hand Meadery - This new Meadery sits on the northside of Dilsons Grove, one street in from the Pastures, across the street is the Grove. It is owned by Alton Greenbottle.

Thayil Saddles - This saddle maker sits at the corner of White Street and North Dilson Road, just north of Dilson Grove. They make good quality saddles and these are all made by the apprentices of Edninik Rosehand [Exp12, dm].
Rosehand Saddles - This saddle maker is the master who also owns Thayil Saddles. He makes his excellent quality saddles from this shop located on the back of Thayil Saddles. These are custom made and he can work with all kinds of leather and does excellent tooling work. There is a six month waiting list for his saddles and they cost 3 times what a normal saddle.

Violets Boarding House - run by a pair of old gnomish sisters Tulip and Dandelion Hillgrazer this boarding house is named for their deceased sister and have run this house for 40 years. Their tenants are strictly girls and women who work in the Pastures. They look after the females as if they were their own daughters and families of the young women who stay here know that their is someone in the big city looking out for their daughters.
A few hundred girls have called this place home over the years and one of the most successful ones, who went on to become a stablemaster, lives in the house with her family directly to the south of the boarding house.

----------

Blue End - This suburb in the north part of town contains sages, tutors and very high end artificers (musical instruments, haberdashery, clockwork pieces and gowns). One of the quieter areas of town. The only road that sees significant traffic is Roses Row which runs from the North Market to the western entrance of the Zoo. It bisects Blue End, running through the valley between the hills that make up Blue End. Lots of window shopping takes place along this stretch. The north side of Blue End (facing the wall) is a mostly gnomish neighborhood.

Arvendale's Tomes - This bookseller/sage sits in the se corner of Blue End, five houses from the wall around the zoo and facing Marnias Park. Grantos Arvendale is halfelf just entering his 60s, he is a former adventurer and now currently owns this shop. He sells books, mostly related to nature and plants. He is also a sage of those subjects. He is also an expert poison maker and can be hired to teach people the skill, he is also the black market seller of poison books. Tall for a half elf (6'3") his hair is starting to thin and turn gray, he still prefers to wear browns and greens from his adventuring days. [n, ROG4/RNG3/exp6, hem]

The Cavern - billed as the only earth genesi tavern in town (they do allow others), but don’t expect anything less than grumbles and moodiness from the patrons. Lies near the base of Taidans CLimb

    Overlook Inn -

Rocky Top Gardens - This is a small park (about 4 acres) that lies at the far west end of Blue End on top of one of the hills in the area. Large boulders are scattered around the park and you get a great view of the city from Taidan's Climb, a 75ft cliff that makes up the west end of the hill. This park accounts for the greater than average number of earth genesi who live in the district.

Rose Towers - these towers have been here for as long as the town has been here. The western one is 8 stories tall, the eastern one is 6 stories tall and they are connected by a walkway from the top of the eastern one to the western one at the 7th floor. They are made from a dark rose colored block that matches no known block that is native to the area (within 1000 miles).
They were build by a half-elven family in responce to being excluded from the first five families of Tul D'Neir. The half part is some kind of tiefling or fire genesi or genie or demonic, no one is really quite sure any more and they were originally from the far east part of Marsadrei. They were running from the kingdom of Tah Shi Che as they conquered their kingdom as they expanded into the area around the Bay of Knives.
The Rosechem family has lived here for the entire time and now are one of the most powerful families in the city, although they do their best to maintain a low profile. They have spent the last five centuries hiding their overt power and camoflauging it with the veneer of a once proud family barely holding onto to the last vestages of power.
The Rose Towers compound is barely 10% of what it was 2 centuries ago, but what remains is surrounded by a 13ft tall iron picket fence and the grounds, once pristine, have fallen to disarray (quite on purpose).
They own 90% of the buildings on the area map, including the Overlook Inn, but through a series of shell companies. They are also high end assassins and information gatherers and are the power behind the powers in the city, even if they don't know it.

Willows Pockets, a gnomish bakery that produces handheld pastries filled with meats, cheeses, veggies in all kinds of combos that change daily. Located on Roses Row, does lots of business with people go to/or from the Zoo.

-----------

Clinks - this suburb is located in town, just inside of the Gate of Stars, south of the AoCK and lies nw of Nordo. It is home to many of the cities banks and money lenders.

Conquerors Gate -

Croates Park (pronounced Crow-Ates) - a few fields are mingled among the trees, which are stunted because of Foggy Bottom and the amount blood spilled by the dead people found here. If a week goes by and a dead body isnt found in the park, the guards consider it a win.

Dyosa Park - This park is located to the sw of Vanguard Heights and ne of Guild Hill. Half field (western), half grove (eastern). It is named for the matriarch of the Platnal family, one of the founding families, who wanted to save the First Fort over 400 years ago when the city was still in its infancy.
The First Fort is located at the eastern most end of Dyosa Park and predates the city by almost 1000 years. Its makers are long forgotten to time and the old fort is nothing more than ruins now. According to the city historians the fort was probably 80ft square and was a simple motte/bailey design. All that remains are crumbled walls, no higher than 5ft tall, and only about 30% of the outer wall remains.

----------

Eastside - this suburb lies north of the AoCK inside East Gate and west of Sozo, filled with shops, taverns, inns of all kinds as it caters to travelers of all kinds. Very eclectic population, races of all kinds live here. It becomes more residential as you get closer to the zoo and Sozo, a little lower class that Sozo.

The Chimera Inn - a three story inn of decent quality that takes up two buildings on Dulmoor Street. They have good fare and ask few questions. The north building holds the common road where the food and drink is served. The two floors above hold double rooms that are simple, two beds, two chest.
The building to the south holds the kitchens on the bottom floor as the food is carried across the alley. The second floor is where all the servants and workers live and sleep. The top floor of the southern building is accessible via a special walkway that connects the two buildings three stories up. The top floor holds a large apartment that is usually rented longterm by a group of people. The access is limited to those who hold a special key that is provided by the owners.

Firepie Tavern - a chain of taverns that sell Northern versions of Southern Continent food. Food from the Yantec empire is usually flavored with hot spices and hot peppers and most people from the Northern Continent find too hot for their tastes. These taverns sell northernized versions of Yantec food, not as spicy or flavorful.
This is the original tavern as it lies on the version northern edge of Al Kuneer facing Eastside. It has been in operation for 20 years and is very popular among the people of Sozo and Eastside. You can ask for a 'hot' and 'molten' version of the meal and the kitchen will prepare with extra spices for you. They are opening a new resturant every 2 or 3 years and there are now 7 locations across the city.

General Ditam Fountain - this fountain lies at the base of the terminus for the Taldus Aquaduct Branch. The fountain measures 25x8 and a bas relief of the general is carved into the terminus wall overlooking the fountain. He was a famous Tul D'Neir general who died over 120 years ago. He grew up in the area.

Planeshopper Apothocary - owned by Slickback, run by Kelvim Maston [cg, FTR2, hm] who owed some money to the wrong people (a disguised Slickback) and who found himself in debt to Slickback (the real version). It is located across Taduls Field, three shops up from the AoCK on Dulmoor Street.

Taldus Field - this open piece of grass is located noth of where the Taldus Aqaudect crosses the Avenue of the Crimson King. It acts as the unofficial border between Eastside and Sozo.
Rotte Grove - a small stand of pink trumpet trees (about 1/10 of an acre). They stand 30ft tall and bloom in late spring through mid summer.

Tanga's Battle School - This building lies on AoCK east of Taldus Field. It is home to an old (60y) earth genesi weapon master name Tanga [ln, FTR9, egm] who specializes in teaching two-handed weapons, especially those with reach capabilities, even exotics as he spent the first half of his life traveling across the hemisphere as a mercenary. This three story house has the bottom two floors combined into one large training area to accomodate training with reach weapons. He lives on the top floor. He opened the school 12 years ago.
----------

Farrow - this district lies in NW Tul D'Neir inside the walls north of Yellow Queen Cemetary and west of Uptown. A lower to middle class neighborhood where most of the people work for the caravans in lower tier jobs. The neighborhood gets rougher and cheaper the closer to the Pastures and the outer walls of the city you get. The south part of the Farrow is the middle class as its closer to the North Churchs and the dwarven and elven districts of Nar Alain and Tall Trees respectively. Those who deal with the mortuary science live closest to the Cemetary. There are also always rumors of unsavory characters living in this part of town, both close to the wall in the poorest parts of the Farrow, and the nearest to the cemetary, in one of the creepiest parts of town.

Black Star Temple - This temple complex is dedicated to the Pommet god Arawn (god of life and death, NE). Its 2.5x the size of the picture on the page. A severely gothic looking temple complex. There are no skulls on the outside of the temple, but many of the rooms inside are skull decorated

The Box of Bones - this coffin maker sits further down Cemetary Road. They make coffins. The owner is Casper Butthoteagle [ln, Exp4, hm] and the Butthoteagle family has been making coffins for four generations.

Cemetary Road - This road follows the outside of the Yellow Queen Cemetary from the Street of Wheels to the AoCK.

Ebonywood Apothocary - this apothocary is located in the middle of block encircled by North Dilson Road, Cemetary Road and Lonbour Road. The owner is Kambucha Ebonywood [ne, Witch11, f-gnome]. She acts as if this is normal apothocary, but she also has a secret darkside area that deals with bone and death related componants (skull dust, ground elf bones, splinters from coffins of the unbelievers, etc).
You just can't walk in and ask for the stuff, you need to be refered by someone else who already has a connection to her darkside area.

The Long House - a simple dormitory for caravan workers. Four stories tall, rooms are single person only (8x10) with a simple bed, desk and locked chest. This place is for people who work on the caravans and are often out on deliveries for weeks or months at end.
They do serve a simple meal that is served in the building across the alley to the nw. It is a hearty stew and cooks all day. Each person who has a room gets one food chit per day.

North Dilson Road - this road runs sw-ne, beginning at the ne extrance of the Yellow Queen Cemetary around the northside of Dilsons Grove to meet up with 6th Street half way between the North Market and North Gate.

Rockarm Masoluem - this masoluem belongs to the Rockarm half-orc clan that been living in the city for three centruries. For the first two centuries they were the owners of Rockarm Caravan Guards, one of the best guilds of guardsmens in the city. They were very good and became very wealthy, but were turned down on the privledge of being buried in the Stonehouse, even though they had the money to do so. Instead they built a large masoluem in the oldest part of the Yellow Queen Cemetary.
In the last century they have added public safety to their roster of things they do. They provide security guards for the rowdier of the bars, whorehouses and other places that require bouncers in the Farrows, Pastures and Squeaky Town. Only the clan heads are buried in the masoluem.
The Rockarm Guards are still among the most popular and best guards in the city. The clan is very wealthy.

Steelers Wheels Tavern - this large tavern is on the rowdy side, it is open all day and all night to serve the large number of single men with coin who live in the area. Food and drink are standard, nothing too expensive, just enough to get a buzz on, or some nice hearty food.
The owner is a former caravan driver and an excellent of business man.

Townwatch, 22nd Precient - This town watch house has the standard 12 person watch. They deal with many drunk people and caravan workers looking for women.

Vladimaria Crypt - this tavern lies at the corner of North Dilson Road and Cemetary Road which encircles the Yellow Queen Cemetary. [the intersection is at 2 oclock, which is an entrance into the Cemetary]. The tavern lies arcoss the street from one of the entrances to the Cemetary.
This is a very gothic tavern made of stone and is one of the creepiest places in town. The owner is Bumfuzzle Cremation [n, ROG11, hm], he is a vampire, but he acts as a human and over acts as a vampire, wearing the equivilent of Grandpa Munster. He wears an Amulet of Non-detection, that is non-detectable.
There are two taverns, one on the ground level, and a set of stairs leading down into another tavern. There is no way to get from one level to the other without going outside. Bumfuzzle only tends bar in the basement. There are rumors that there are a secret tunnel into the cemetary; or into the sewers; or into the underdark; or all three.

The Whispering Oasis - this whorehouse is busy everyday of the week, except Wednesday2, on which it is closed. The women of the Oasis service the single men (and women) who live in the area. The owner of the Oasis is Technicality Zambuca [lg, CLR4, hf] and a cleric of Diancecht (Pommet goddess of medicine and healing). Nothing overly fancy, just lots of rooms for doing it. It does very good business because of the amount of traffic this place gets.

Ye Olde Owl Tavern - used to be named the Yellowed Tavern, but someone took the letters off the sign and rearranged them to spell, Ye Olde Owl and it has been that way for the past 30 years and three different owners.
The current owner is Sasquatch Tuckeredout [le, Exp8, hem], he took over for the last owner 8 years ago. He worked there as the second in command and then he killed the previous owner, but made it look like an accident and the 'found' will had the bar passing into his ownership.
It has an expensive menu, drink and fare, which limits its clientelle to the richer inhabitants of the area, which is the way he likes it. He prefers the quietness to the rowdiness that normally abounds in the Farrow.

----------

Flailton - this area sits outside the western walls of the city, south of the Gate of Stars. Unlike the markets, this is filled with permanent houses and businesses. It is a Makarite quarter, much of the architecture here is of their design. Also home to makers for all things caravan related.

The Fens - another slums area that lies on the east side of the city outside of the city walls.

Foggy Bottom - this district is home to leather workers, dyers, brewers and other smelly professions. The name comes from the propensity of haze that dominates the area all the time. The Golden Wall prevents breezes, so its stagnant and stinky here.
Foggy Brewery - the largest of all breweries inside the town, it clamps around the end of the Golden Wall like an upside J as the building has continued to expand in the 125 years since it was founded. They make a few brews that are strictly for the city. Mata's Brew (typically called Bottom Brew), this is the cheapest beer and found all over lower end establishments in the city. Sunrise Brew, the middle beer, probably the most popular beer in the city, so named because legend has it that the founder drank it all night (to the sunrise) and did not get drunk, this is a myth, he was very drunk and an alcoholic anyway. Stars Brew, the highest end of the local beers, it is found at most establishments in the city. They also make a few that are for export, these are also available in the city, but the three local brews are made in huge tuns for local bars.
Schaankas Leather Works - a very old and wizened half elf female runs this place. A former adventurer (Rog9) she runs a custom leather armor shop from down here. Her work is so good she could easily relocate to a better part of town, but she makes a point to only hire and employ goblin females, thereby keeping her business here near a steady work force from Magaac. When she was an adventurer, she was in a party with a female goblin rogue (Lygorka, who was disguising herself as a very ugly gnome), they struck up a friendship and when they had to escape the underdark Lygorka took her back to her village to live/hide, the half elf became enamored with goblin culture. When she moved to Tul D'Neir to start her business, she made a point to hire only goblin females. She had seen their work with the crude tools they had, and knew they would do wondrous things when they had professional tools to work with. They have not disappointed in the 40 years the business has been open. It was a tough hill to climb, overcoming peoples conceptions of goblins, but they do make some of the best stuff in town. They also dye the leather here as well. Two days every month (the first two days of the final week of the month), she rents a booth in Ohrudis Gem  in the North Market to sell her goods, this is stock, not the custom fitted stuff. That she only does at her location, which sits on the sw side of Croates Park, she lives above her sprawling shop and is a very popular and well respected person in this part of the city, (ie, she could walk around in Alzalam and not be harmed at any time of day or night). Schaanka is not her name, that is a goblin word for 'heavenly matron' or something of the ilk.

The Gate of Stars - this is the western gate of the city, it leads to the Avenue of the Crimson King

The Glow/12th Street - this suburb contains the high end theaters, pleasure houses, gambling houses, taverns and concert halls in town. It runs between Uptown and The Shades, parallel with the aquaduct from the Avenue of the Crimson King north, along side Marnias Park and ends past the park and runs up against the sw part of Blue End.
The main street of the area is 12th Street, which runs from The AotCK to the wall in the north. Only one building that is part of this area is located south of the Avenue, and that is 12th Street Concert Hall, one of the grandest buildings in town. It used to be on 12th Street, but it burned down about 40 years ago, with help from wealthy patrons, it was relocated to the lot across from where 12th Street hits the avenue. It now faces directly down 12th Street from across the Avenue.
It is also called to the Glow because the place is lit by Continuous Lights all the time
The Silk Cocoon – a high end brothel just off the main street.

The Golden Wall -

The Great Aquaduct -

Grumbles - this district lies south of Al Kuneer and is bordered by a pair of walls on the east and south. Home to some of the roughest people in town, it includes the highest concentration of half orcs, tieflings and other races that are looked down upon.
The Blue Banner Guild - One of the few respectable places in this district, a licensed and bonded guild of bodyguards, one of the better ones in town. Need a tiefling warlock to protect you? COme here. Need a platoon of half orc/orc guards for your caravan to the Northern Desert, this is your place. It is located halfway to Mazons Gate along the wall. The safest way to get here is is to follow the wall from the East Gate all the way down.
The Broken Drum - If you want a bar fight, this is the place. The basement is supposed to be home to a fight club kind of place, but you just can't walk up and say "I want to go to the fight club"

Guild Hill -

Heroes Hill Cemetary

High Point

Hillside

----------

The Jungle - located between 4th and 8th Street it is home to many of the theater groups that work in the theaters in Uptown. The name comes from the numbers of ropes and cables that cross streets and alley ways in the area. The actors and acrobats practice on these.
This place is rife with pickpockets except on 6th Street, which is 'out of bounds' for pickpockets as its the major avenue from the AoCK to the North Market and they don't want to draw the heat.

Bling and Things - a former apprentice of Elugea (Prism Park), Hexomethonium Fragrency [cg, Exp7, dbrnm] is a silver dragonborn who opened his own clothing store in the nw corner of the Jungle about 12 years ago. He is an excellent tailor who learned his craft well at Elugea's feet, his skills were more as a creator of bedazzled cloaks and capes for dragonborn. Since then he has added costume design for theater groups to his resume.

Magaac - goblin word for Haven, this slum is stuffed into the corner north of The Bleed, Golden Wall and the Military Wall. Not a very clean place, but its home for the cities goblins, kobalds and other lesser races. Always smells.
Kgak Ngaks Delicicies - the entrapernurial goblin sells all kinds of specialty items to the adventurous restuarants in town. Sheep & goat brains, cow eyeballs, 'sweetmeats' and other things that cannot be found in most restuarants. There aren't many 'adventurous' restuarants in town, but there are enough to make him good money. He owns a Hat of Disguise and acts as his own salesman, a gnome.
Temple of Bargrivyek - this temple to the goblin god of cooperation and territory lies in an old dry sea cave under the district

The Markets - located to the west outside of the walls, north of the Gate of Stars. Home to farmers markets of all kinds, produce, poultry, meats, cheeses, milks

Marnias Park - a large park north of the Shades, west of the Zoo and east of Uptown. It contains a small pond that runs into the Zoo. The northern part of the park is wooded, which keeps the visitors to the park from seeing Blue End. There is a hill that runs along the north part of the park.

Mazons Gate

-------------

Midtown - this part of town runs from AoCK in the north, 1st Street in the west, South Market and the Oldwall in the south, the Stonehouse in the ne and Vanguard Heights in the se.
A real melting pot located in the middle of town, its very busy with businesses of all kinds, races of all kinds and leans towards middle class to lower/upper middle class.

Ashbutter House of Wines - this wine distributor, run by Frederico Ashbutter [ln, Exp7, hm] is a large man (one of his grandparents was a goliath) and he specializes in wines from the Northern Continent, as well as Makarite, Svarlbergen and Gratia. Their main location is in Al Kuneer, which also holds their warehouse, but this location allows them to reach a larger part of the cities rich population. The family has resisted the urge to sell anything other than Southern Continent wines. This is the premier place in the entire city to get Southern Continent wines as El Banir has made or broken a winery due to his standing as the worlds largest Southern Continent oenophile.

Sweet Sensations - This upscale bakery is located across from Oswain Food Distributor. The majority of the villa and resturants that get their food from Oswain make their own bread. This place makes the specialty breads, cakes and pies that the kitchens cannot (or don't have time to make).
Elven cloud rolls, halfling twisty bread, dwarven gravel cakes, marsadrei fruit puffs, and more are handled daily by this large bakery that runs constantly throughout the day.
The bakery was opened 65 years ago by a married couple, Seesaw Jackalope (a halfling/water genesi male) and his wife, Scrumptious Fleur de Flour (elven female). Since that time, the business has expanded 3 times, slowly taking over more and more adjacent shops and more expansion is coming soon when they can take over the next closest shop. Seesaw has died but his wife and their kids still run the business, although each of the five children has gone off on their own rumspringa to sow their oats for a year or two. All but one has remained at home helping to run the business. The stray child is Alexandria Jackalope [cg, WAR8, elven water genesi] who has helped the business in her own way as she has multiple times traveled to Marsadrei (the continent of Lakes) and brought back some interesting recipes.

Theliels Cosmetics - this cosmetics shop is owned by Theliel Diamondsky [lg, PAL2/SOR3, aasimar female]. She built this shop 65 years ago after the fire. They sell in 1/4 kegs (8gal), 1/2 kegs (16gal) and full kegs (32gal). They carry around 100 different kinds of ales, beers and lagers. This is not the highest end ales and beers, but everything they carry is better than average and very local (nothing further than 50 miles away from the city). They focus on breakfast and something they invented, an egg, cheese and sausage stuffed roll that can be held in one hand and eaten while walking.
Tomahawk Beaver [ng, Exp7, human male] and his family turned this failing business around 3 years ago when they created this recipe. Hot Pockets are extremely popular and have become a favorite of the workers who come into this part of the city multiple times a week to bring back goods to their villas and large restuarants.
They sell down watered beer as well as most villas don't want their employees drinking in the morning. There is no venomous goat, but there is a stuffed two-headed goat that hangs above the fireplace in the main room. The reason for their weird hours (before dawn until sundown) is because this part of town sees a lot fewer people once the sun goes down.

Yellow Dragon Glass - the Flammible Clan, a dwarven run glass blower. They make vases, pipes, and all things glass. They have been here for 65 years.

Ohrudis Gem - an open area of 38 acres that sits in the middle of the district and is filled with booths 8 of 10 days every week. Hundreds of vendors fill this area all other days, selling everything from the back of carts, or temporary booths. Some vendors come from outside of the city, others come from their shops in other parts of the city, but all are looking to sell. The only item that is not sold here is fish, there is a market specifically for fish near the docks. Shops of all kinds line the market and 6 major streets converge at the Gem, making this one of the busiest places in town. The surrounding area is filled with artisans of all kind, usually they have their shop on the first floor and live with their family above as two/ three story buildings are crowded into the area. The western side of North Market is much louder as this is where metal smiths of all kind are concentrated and the district bleeds into Nar Alain (Little Mountain - a dwarven district)

Some families still own both.
The Black Finger - this tower is located just inside the Pirates Gate in Old Towers. Still owned by the Kheenasi family, one of the first five and the only one from the Southern Continent. The four story tower is made from black marble, there is no grass anymore in the nearly acre yard that surrounds it. It was replaced years ago and is now a dark grey flagstone with a simple lighter stone path that leads from the street to the door. The grass was replaced about 60 years ago when one of the Kheenasi kept throwing spears from the upper windows at the gardeners that tended the property, all the time yelling 'Get off my lawn'. The Kheenasi family has a history of mental illness in its older members and once they are too far gone they are moved into this tower and out of the villa that the family still owns.
The Golden Tower of The Six - one of the tallest towers in the city, it soars 150ft above the town and it used to be home to the adventuring party called the Golden Six and they kept residence there for almost 70 years as they adventured across the known world. It was sold 30 years ago when they were down to 2 remaining members (both elves), since then it has had three other tenants. The Blazing Bulls, bought it and within 4 years they were gone. Only one of them returned from a trip to the nine hells, she sold the place and retired. The Mango Mongeese held the place for 20 years, using it when they weren't adventuring in the southern jungles. During their last trip to the jungles of the southern continent they found the lost city of Xik'Berix and became stupid wealthy, they have since dispanded and most of them moved to the grand city of the great southern bay and own a great sprawling palace. Six years ago it was purchased by the Sisterhood of Dragons, an adventuring band made of entirely of female dragonborn. They are currently on an planar adventure, some say the nine hells, others say the abyss.
The Museum of Tul D'Neir - opened nearly 200 years ago, it is home to one of the largest collections of relics in the known world. It is now housed in 4 towers and a dozen buildings that connect the towers. Concocted by the wealthiest families over 200 years ago as a place to show off the history of the northern continent. It has since expanded to include a tower of southern continent history, as well as two buildings of Makarite relics. A (mostly) accurate of the history of the world is on display here.

Park of Burned Statues - this park is north of The Bleed and still contains about a dozen statues, many of them burned from the fire 100 years ago. Even though the old upper middle class suburb burned down, the city kept the park as they wanted to keep the green space, and got some pushback from the cities druids when they wanted to turn the land into more slaughter houses. Currently the druid in charge of keeping the space clean is a goblin druid name Ohcan Greentuft.

The Pastures - located in N Tul D'Neir between Farrow and Uptown, it is home to many stables that sit inside the walls, very smelly

She moved to this location 15 years ago and has been making good quality coats and cloaks for dragonborn. She has figured out a rain-repellant formula for the sturdier travel cloaks that she makes. There is not a lot of ornamentation on her cloaks, they are well-made and long lasting (like North Face jackets). All her current apprentices are dragonborn and she deals in almost 30 different shades.

Smaller than the Bronze Bell and more intimate, it is run and owned by Vancouver Sassytree [lg, BRD5/CLR2, ef] and caters to female and elven bards, even though it technically lies in Prism Park (a dragonborn suburb)

The Leech Pit - a sunken ampitheater that was dug into an old square. It must be rented out to be used. There is a mosiac in the lower most area and it was supposed to be a dragon, but the tile layer took one to many mushrooms and design looks like a giant leech.
The Pit is usually rented out by some of the local bars/taverns/theaters to drum up business for their upcoming show. These places include the Forty Five Spoons Fest Hall, The Bronze Bell, Golden Harp Tavern (located two blocks up Three Bones Lane), and theaters that populate the Jungle.

The church burned down over 100 years ago and then moved to one of the church suburbs, but the tower remained. The initial bell was taken to the new church, this is a replacement bell. The ringing of the bell is the responsibility of the guards of the 41st Precinct.

Thia Shon Tea House - this teahouse is run by an oriental dragonborn of the chromatic kind. Non-dragonborn really cannot tell the difference between an oriental dragonborn and a normal dragonborn unless they have specific contact with either kind, and an understanding that there are oriental dragonborn. Dragonborn know right away.

He has a staff of a dozen scribes pumping out books and is the place to go for excellent quality illustrated books.                 Grestians Construction - a human general contractor [exp11] runs one of the largest construction companies in the city, he deals exclusively in solidly built wooden structures. He does high end structures (new houses, etc), but tends to stick to easy to build, prefab structures. Stables, barracks, small cottages, servants quarters, etc; so most of his jobs are in the Shades.

The Shades - The suburb that is filled with villas for the very wealthy in town. It is bordered by the aquaduct in the west, Marnias Park in the north, the Avenue of the Crimson King in the south. It gets its name from the propensity of tall trees that sit in the villas, casting their shade. The people who don't live here like to joke that the name comes from the attitude of those that live here, how they will 'throw shade' at you unless your family has a villa in the Shades.
The villas range from about half an acre up to 12. Although there are only 4 villas that are larger than 6 acres, and those all belong to the remaining founding families. Most lie in the .75 to 3 acre range.

The smithy is run by Pikelbahrell (Pik-L-Bah-Rell) Stronginthearm [dm, CLR3(Moradin)/Exp6, ng] who specializes in repairing of damaged weapons and armor. He also makes new weapons and armors, but starts with damaged.
They also import Yamok sauce from Nar Arlak by Nyqula Stronginthearm [df, BRD4/Exp3, cg]. This is a spicy dwarven sauce and they are looking to make inroads into Tul D'Neir. It is both a newer product and an acquired taste.

Whisperwind Baths - these very nice baths sit at the corner of Sunrise Lane and South Zoo Lane as they take up half the block. There are cold baths, salt water baths, hot baths, mud baths, dust baths, and smoke baths. The odder baths are smaller and one in number; the hot baths and cold baths come in many different price points.

Squeaky Town - home to all the trading coasters that call Tul D'Neir home. It sits north of AoCK in the far NW part of the city, bordered on the NE by the Street of Wheels. It is also home to makers of carts, barrels, crates and all things needed for caravans. These businesses are located along the wall inside the town, or just outside town in Flailton.
The Great Claw (aka Gonds Wooden Folly) - this is a large wooden crane structure that lies where the Street of Wheels hits the wall in northern Squeaky Town. It is a large crane that is tall enough to stand above the wall and lift goods from outside the wall and place them inside the wall, specifically it moves lumber over the walls so the people in Squeaky Town can build things.

Stonehouse - this cemetary lies south of the Shades and contains the majority of mausoleams for the families of the Shades. A few do have places on their grounds, but most have transferred their dead ancestors to this cemetery. Built 120 years ago, when a fire decimated this part of town.

There are three stages, the largest is on the back side of the complex and is a 500 person occupancy theater that hosts the cities biggest bards, as well as putting on plays. Besides an large seating area, there are also two levels of private boxes that make up a balcony. The medium stage, located on the south side of the building, can host about 200 people in the room and was rebuilt 20 years ago to make it one of the best acoustically sounding rooms in the world. This place gets rowdy and hosts the more upbeat bards, ribald songs are necessary here. The final room holds 50 and lies in a basement level on the north side of the building. This is for the bards who produce more contemplative and softer ballads.
This place has one of the largest selections of gnomish ales and wines in the city. The head of the clan is Antidiluvian Snozzberry [cg, Exp10, gm], a crotchity old gnome of 120 years, but he has one of the best ears for talent in the city, both bard wise, and theater troupe wise. Many up-and-coming parties get their big break at the Forty Five Spoons.

Worldwalkers Atlases - this gnomish run business is located on the street that faces the Yellow Queen Cemetary. A large warehouse building that is the cities largest printer of maps. Everyone knows that gnomes produce the best maps.

Each point holds a statue of a hero, one for each of the three temple complexes that lie around the square. The statues are exactly the same height so as not to put one god above the rest.
The Kord statue is of Saint Dexter Richfield the Paladin of the Strong; the Red Knight staute High Priest Akkadis Occipitial; the Heironeous statue is of Paladin Perishable Buckingham VII, Earl of Ragsbunnydale On Arborduff.

It is located on the Square of Heroes where Short Street, Zoo Avenue and River Road all meet.
The complex contains a large temple as well as an inner ward. The walls are 20ft high and 10ft wide and is patrolled 24 hours a day. There is a gate house that opens onto the outerward.

Zoo Avenue - This road winds its way along a mostly north-south route, from the Square of Heroes to the southern entrance of the Zoo. It crosses the AoCK on the west side of Taldus Field and runs alongside and ends at the Zoo.

-----------------

West Churches - this district is home some of the cities churches and shrines. It lies north of Nordo and south of AoCK. The churches that dominate this area have to do with travel, trade, knowledge and contain Makarite gods as well.

The Whispers - this district lies in the NE of Nordo and north of the UNiversity and west of Princes Park. It is home to many teachers and contains dorms for the doctoral students at university. Very quiet, the entire district is under a noise ordinance as these students actually need to study. Also home to many people who work weird hours and need peace and quiet. Along the AoCK there are stands of trees and other sound reducing folliage that keeps the noise from Squeaky Town at a minimum.

Widows Hill - home to many inns and taverns, as well as dormitory housing that service sailors and traders. Rowdy and loud, people stumbling down the streets is a common sight, either north west towards the University or back to their ships at the docks.

Extremely well run and owned by Martika Ravenhair (a half orc/half elf, ROG4/CLR7 [lliera], chr21) she is best described as 'an amazon'. She has 40-50 girls in her care, as well as a handful of burly bodyguards that protect them all. No liquor or food is provided on site, just ladies. The bottom floor is a large open room with walls that can open allowing breezes to blow through the room (seasonally depending), the top three floors are rooms rentable by the hour (or longer), the higher the floor, the better the room (and girl). Her 'Water Girls' are the most prized in her house and start at 10gp/hour and work the fourth floor only. This floor is on the level of the top of the aquaduct and the house has a direct flow from the aquaduct, allowing the top floor to have baths and tubs for the adventurous and rich
The Tank - home to one of the cities larger guardhouses, it sits under the junction of the aquaduct in the area. They have an unusally large drunk tank that is normally 50% filled every night.
