Locations (Through session 12)
Airedairedoppopopolis
(air ee dare ee dop o pop o lis) (town Ovias)
A genesi
town of about 15000 on the shore of the Lämê
Sea (pronounced Laa may).
Avenue of the Crimson King (road - Tul D'Neir)
The main thoroughfare in
the northern part of the city. Built 400 years ago (with remarkable
foresight) by city planners. It runs arrow straight from the East
Gate to Gate of Stars for a length of 4 miles.
It is 70 feet wide, but
only 40' of that is for the road. There is a 10 ft curb area, on both
sides of the road and a 10' wide area in the middle in which trees
grow. On the north side of the road people travel west, on the south
side, people travel east. Each side has two 'lanes', the lanes
closest to the center have a pair of grooves sunk into them to make
wagon travel easier.
The road is made from
white/pink granite, but over the years the white (despite the best
efforts of the GRCG Goblinoid Road Cleaning Guild), has turned it
ivory and pink.
At every mile of the road
there is a slender 20x20 tower in the center of the road that stands
80' tall. There are bells atop the tower and they ring in 6 hour
cycles. Starting at 500 am they ring twice every 15 minutes until 6am
when they ring 4 times. At 15 minute intervals they ring twice until
7am when it rings only once. This cycle repeats at 11am, 5pm, 11pm.
The reason for this is to
move freight around the city. The early bells alert people that the
freight will start flowing. At 6,12,6,12, for an hour each time,
wagons overrun the streets as the trading coasters move their stuff
in and out of the city, at night the city is filled with wagons of
refuse leaving the city.
Aviur Family Crypt (cemetery - Forest of DOOOM!!/Ovias)
A cemetery along the Triboar Trail to the west of Phandalin
Bridge of Sighs (bridge - Ovias)
This bridge crosses the Purple River connecting the north side of Ovias from the south side.
Cragmaw Castle (ruin - Forest of DOOOM!!/Ovias)
A castle.
Elsybel (town)
This elven town lies 8 days to the north east of Tul D'Neir
Fluffanutta's Tower (tower)
The tower is 150 tall and is surrounded by 40'ft walls that look to be at least half as thick. The tower totally looks out of place just outside of this small town (which can't have more than 10 buildings in it).
The tower is round, made
of blue veined granite and has a bright red roof. The wall is made
from black rock, that is slightly cold to the touch. [It is hades rock, not from hades that's just the name]
There is a single gate in
the circular wall. It lies at the end of the towns main road. The
door is made of a light cream colored wood, banded with iron. The
wood is warm to the touch and causes 1 point of damage to any evil
creature that touches it. [This is Celestial Wood, from the
plane of Mt Celestia.]
It is 20ft wide and 20 ft
high and there doesn't appear to be a split in the door, or a knocker.
The inside ground has
vegetable fields on one side and fruit trees on the other side. A
gravel walkway 20ft wide leads straight to the tower. The tower is
60ft wide and 150 tall, it appears that the tower never tapers.
The tower is actually not
bigger on the outside and is 60ft wide. When they enter the tower
they are greeted by a large open space, three stories high and
exactly half of the tower. A long staircase winds it way up the three
stories. There are couches to one side, in an 20x20 sunken area, its
only two steps down. There is a pitcher of water and 7 glasses on a
table in between the couches.
The tower is
impressive. On the three story wall are paintings, of all sizes and
styles. There are four small shelves 12 ft in the air, each contains
a suit of plate mail, gnome sized. Each is made of a different metal.
One mithril, one electrum, one steel, one black metal (unknown).
Right above the suits
of armor is a tapestry, 8 ft tall and runs the entire length of open
area. It appears to tell a story. Each perception check dc15 gains
knowledge of a quarter of it.
First quarter – birth
of gnome race, blue skies, green hills, brown gnomes, spreading wide,
prosperity
second quarter – a
great king (the greatest king), the goldenest of all golden ages,
betrayal, civil war, horrible stuff
third quarter – more
war, gnomish god appears, splits self?, skies change from blue to
green (what the sky looks like inside the hollow world)
fourth quarter –
famine, peace, two races (gold/grey), building, small wars, peace
again, pact on bi-colored anvil
Located a day south of the Bridge of Sighs, it is a magical forest. It is alive and changes its entrances every so often, it allows access to different parts of it at different times. Some times, some parts get very evil, or just become impassible as the Forest of DOOM! Reclaims it.
Hand Strickt Farm (farm) a farm located 1 day to the north east of Tul D'Neir. Run by Marie and Earl (evil Shadowless people, who disappeared)
Lämê Sea (pronounced Laa may) (Ovias)
This sea is located in the far south of Ovias.
Loop Road (Ovias)
This road encircles the Forest of DOOOM!! and never strays more than a 1/4 mile from the forest edge. In some places the forest juts out and covers both sides of the road, but never for more than a mile or two.
The road is 30ft wide and made of interlocking stones raised a foot of the ground. Built by gnomes.
Olde Owl Well (location - Forest of DOOOM!!/Ovias)
West of Phandalin, rumors suggest over run by undead, specifically zombies. A crumbling keep built by unknown persons. The site of recent excavations.
Ovias (world)
A hollow world.
The two subraces of gnomes hate each other (but are not currently at war with one another) and they are the dominant race of Ovias. There are no native dwarves or elves, but there are centuars, aarocka, werelions, lizard men and genesi all who have a 'homeland' in our little world. Orcs, ogres, bugbears, goblins are the most common evil creatures.
There is a 'sun', which 'pulses' every 27 hours and there are four 'seasons' each
exactly 100 days long. There are two equinoxes where the sun shines
for 13.5 hours a day, during the winter equinox it gets down to 9
hours a day, and 18 hours of darkness, in the summer its reversed.
Right now it is late fall,
early winter and there is 10 hours of light and 17 of darkness, but
its not really cold, maybe gets down to low 40s at night. Even in the
deepest winter rarely does it ever get below freezing (at ground
level).
Purple River (river - Ovias)
This river splits north and south Ovias. The river is 1/2 mile wide and the water is purple colored, the north side flows west and the south side flows east.
The
genesi have been appearing in (and traveling to) Ovias for about 800
years. To Genesi, Ovias is a haven, a world where they are not a
minority race. Gnomes make up 40% of Ovias (again split 50/50 into
gold & grey), 25% genesi (6% for each, + 1% of new genesi
[interspecies breeding has led to steam, smoke, magma, mud, ice, dust
genesi, but only in the last 10 years, so none are old enough to be
older than 10), 8% human, 8% werelions, 6% lizard men, 6% centuars,
5% aarocka, 2% other).
Phandalin (town - Ovias)
Located inside the Forest of DOOOM!! 10 days from forest edge to the town, due west along Triboar Trail.

Purple River (river - Ovias)
This river splits north and south Ovias. The river is 1/2 mile wide and the water is purple colored, the north side flows west and the south side flows east.
Squeakytown (suburb - Tul D'Neir)
A section of Tul D'Neir that is home to the caravan coasters that run overland routes on the northern continent. It lies in the NW part of town closest to the Gate of Stars and is bordered by the Avenue of the Crimson King on the south, Street of Wheels on the NE and the city walls on the NW.
The two major trading coasters are
Grand Mountain Trading Coaster (dwarven) and Thesalor Wagon Concern
(elven) and together they occupy more than half of Squeakytown. There
are another 12 or so smaller trading coasters that have bases here.
It gets it name from the constant squeaking of cart wheels.Thunder Tree (village - Forest of DOOOM!!/Ovias)
An abandon village located three days east of Phandalin. Overrun with plant zombies, cultists and a young green dragon. Home to a druid (unnamed ancient air genesi)
Timbuksix (town - Ovias)
A small town of 10 buildings, but contains Fluffanutta's tower.
The Tinkles (suburb - Tul D'Neir)
This suburb lies between Uptown and the Yellow Queen Cemetery and is the home to jewelry makers, gem smiths, toy makers, clockwork crafters,
Triboar Trail (aka the Western Trail) (trail - Forest of DOOOM!!/Ovias)
This trail leads from the eastern edge of the forest due west into the forest. Phandalin is located 10 days down the trail.
Tul D'Neir (city)
The city of Tul D'neir is run by the wealthiest merchants from the 3 main kingdoms, Dwarves, Elves and Humans (southern Continent mostly). The region is very stable politically (since the city is so large). There are other more troubled regions to the north, northwest, northeast, and east. (Beyond the local Dwarves/Elves). Tul D’neir is an independent city state with no actually kingdom affiliation, but all 3 of the main kingdoms provide for the “common defense” both on land and sea.
The
city of Tul D’neir (translated as Tumble Down which is it’s
unofficial nickname) has been on this spot for several hundred years.
Legend has it that the original founder of the city single handedly
slew a huge adult red dragon by throwing it off the cliff into what
is now Dragon Maw Bay. And the dragon tumbling down the cliff was
where the name came from.
Tul
D’neir does not actually have a river run through it, but there is
one to the north of the city, that runs from the mountains to the
coast, northwest of the city. The city was not founded by the river
(as is normally done), due to the depth of the water at that part of
the coast. The continental shelf there is quite long (1/4 mile) and
the water is only several feet deep. It’s current location is
much better suited to a deeper port.
Uptown (suburb - Tul D'Neir)
Located in the north part of the city, it lies north of the Avenue of the Crimson King. It is the home to new money d-bags.
Wave Echo Cave (cave/dungeon - Forest of DOOOM!!/Ovias)
